The PSS Parent-Baby Service is an early intervention mental health support service for parents who need a bit of support to form healthy, positive relationships with their babies.
Who can we support?
We work with parents from before their babies are born, right up until they turn two.
We work with parents at an early stage, to help prevent any problems from growing.
We support parents to:
- maintain positive attachment relationships;
- overcome birth trauma;
- look at how their own childhood may have influenced their thoughts and feelings as a parent today;
- be caring, responsive, communicative, interactive, and more ‘in tune’ with their babies;
- improve their wellbeing and their babies’ wellbeing;
- improve parent-infant attachment; and
- grow their confidence.
The benefits of referring to the PSS Parent-Baby Service
We give people person-centred support, so our support plans will be in-depth and tailored to the individual needs of the parents and families referred to us.
We’ve got lots of different support options and therapeutic interventions at our fingertips to support people, including:
• Evidence-based therapeutic support
• Group sessions and meet-ups
• Community-based support
• Community-based interventions with vulnerable parents if needed
Support for professionals
We’re part of an alliance of services across the city. If you’ve got any worries or concerns, please feel free to get in touch. We also offer training around infant mental health and early relationships to support the learning needs of professionals who work with babies.
